From Weekly Press (Philadelphia) (John Lane):
“A new seasonal gem...A most noteworthy addition to your collection of holiday music.”
From Crescendo (Enos Shupp):
“A recording of Christmas music that is distinctly different from anything I can recall. It is for everyone who just wants to hear the most beautiful Christmas music, played with exquisite artistry and feeling. Davyd Booth plays with the deepest feeling, as well as with a ravishinglovely tone, and Michael Stairs’ use of the vast resources of the Longwood organ is a constant joy. Booth and Stairs play Borowski’s Adoration with an unforgettable passion.
It should be noted that all of the arrangements heard here are by Michael Stairs (for violin and organ) and they are masterly. As with all DTR recordings, what you hear is exactly what was played.”

This features the famed 1930 Aeolian concert organ playedby Michael Stairs. Davyd Booth, Philadelphia Orchestra violinist, is the collaborating artist in all 17 tracks on the disc.  The seasonal program adds eight new numbers to the nine violin/organ titles previously available on cassette only (Christmas at Longwood Gardens, DTR8511).
Michael Stairs has arranged many familiar carols for violin and organ as well as works from the classical repertory. Newly recorded are versions of Silent Night, Good Christian Men Rejoice, and the late Keith Chapman’s Bring a Torch Jeanette Isabella originally created with the famed Wanamaker Organ in mind.
From the concert repertory comes new transcriptions of the familiar Fantasia on Greensleeves by Vaughan Williams, Adoration by Felix Borowski, two Noels by Louis Claude Daquin, and a spectacular version of the Alleluja from Respighi’s Concerto Gregoriano.
The selections found on the original release are Good Christian Men Rejoice, O Holy Night (here in a newly recorded performance), Ding Dong! Merrily on High, The Virgin’s Slumber Song, Carol of the Drum, Sleigh Ride, Jesus Jesus Rest Your Head, I Wonder As I Wander,  and I Saw Three Ships.
